On May 5, 2024, Sergeant Bill Hooser of the Santaquin (UT) Police Department was killed in the line of duty.
Sergeant Hooser, along with a Utah Highway Patrol trooper, was investigating a suspicious situation involving a semi-tractor trailer.
The driver of the semi refused to cooperate and drove directly at Sergeant Hooser, striking him with his truck.
The savage scumbag was eventually apprehended after a lengthy pursuit.
Bill was 50 years old and had been a cop for nine years. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a granddaughter.
Godspeed, brother.

Today is National Peace Officers Memorial Day. The annual observance dates back to 1962, when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as National Police Week. It is a time to honor and remember all the law enforcement officers who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty.
This year, 282 names were added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. — 118 officers who were killed in 2023 and an additional 164 who died in previous years — including five from Nevada.
May we never forget their legacy of service and sacrifice.
